A few years later he was assigned to pack up an old rec. center, one day Jim let a few teenagers in because their basketball rim got taken away by the city; they swam in the pool, eventually they all became a team and when they went to the first meet they had, the other people judged all of the swimmers for being African American. The owner of the rec. center got a meet scheduled at his place. Before the meet the other team left because the were "sick". The team got named P.D.R. for Pride, Determination, and Resilience. P.D.R. got to go to the state meet. Once they were there and competed in all of the individual events they were five points away from first place place. In the team relay, they got first place and took home the state championship trophy.
